Nestled conveniently near Kyoto station, Wajimaya Ryokan offers a unique blend of traditional charm and modern convenience. As a travel consultant who's always in search of that perfect luxury without breaking the bank, I found this ryokan to have a noteworthy value proposition. The concourse is meticulously maintained, enabling a pleasant environment right from the start. The spacious family room on the second floor was equipped with essential amenities like an electric kettle, yukata, towels, and air humidifier, which is quite necessary given Japan's dry air. Shared bathrooms were consistently clean, featuring free toiletries, and were easily accessible. The highlight for me was the charming little onsen located in the garden area, which provides a peaceful retreat after a day's excursions. Another plus is the owner's shameless hospitality, even allowing us additional luggage storage after checkout. While it certainly felt authentic, with a touch of homely warmth, the cost remains reasonable for the experience provided. Plus, fantastic transportation links make exploring Kyoto a breeze.
